Photographed several days after the erected flood barrier wall failed, paramedics and firefighters returned to the flooded homes to conduct a census as to which residents remained or where trying to return to their homes. If you look at the barrier wall on the left, you can see the high water markings on the wall that was left behind as the water receded.
Greber and Swafford were going door to door to check on the status of flooded residents who remained in their flooded homes. Flood waters have receded enough to allow Greber and Swafford to wade in to many of the homes as opposed to using a boat.
Maddock along with Winfield-Foley firefighters were able to wade to much of the residents as a result of the receding flood waters.

Look on the side of the pool and you can see how high the water was a couple days before this photo was taken.

This guardsman is directing loaders with sandbags as they deliver their loads to a floodwall barrier being constructed to protect about 75 homes from advancing floodwaters in Winfield, Missouri.

These things were buzzing all over the area during the barrier wall construction and I found it quite challenging not to get hit while I was photographing the efforts to save the town.

I shot this image with a slow shutter speed then filled with a burst of flash from my Nikon SB-800 flash to “freeze” the guardsman.
